How to read the Sage’s advice
The 50 / 30 / 20 rule is a flexible starting point for take-home income. Aim for needs around 50%, wants no more than 30%, and savings plus debt goals around 20%. Adapt it to essential costs and your circumstances.
These comparisons cover the entire loaded statement period. Category guesses need review; Maybe Mire picks count once in wants. Transfers, refunds and card payments are excluded from purchase estimates. Other accounts and card purchases may be missing.
A future goal is not a measured saving rate. Keep required bills and debt payments current, build an emergency cushion, and make room for longer-term goals and extra debt reduction. Unallocated cash is not assumed to have been saved.
